Behind the Pipes: Organ Restoration Project Unveiled

As the restoration of our beloved church organ nears completion, we’re delighted to offer the congregation and wider community a chance to step behind the scenes and discover the remarkable craftsmanship bringing this historic instrument back to life.

We’re thrilled to announce that Matthew Hynes, the independent organ adviser for the project, will be joining us for a special evening presentation on Wednesday 26th November at 7.30pm. Matthew will share insights into the restoration journey and delve into the legacy of Forster & Andrews, the original builders of our organ.

This evening will also serve as an opportunity to update everyone on the overall progress of the project and to hear about two exciting upcoming events: the rededication of the organ by the Bishop in January, and a concert by renowned organist Daniel Moult in March as part of a celebration evening.

Doors open at 7.00pm, with drinks and a chance to explore display materials before the talk begins at 7.30pm. After the presentation, there will be more refreshments, time for questions, and—depending on the progress of the work—a chance to view the organ itself. Much of the instrument is being reinstalled this week, with electrical reconnections, front pipe restoration, and final tuning still to come. We remain on track for completion in time for the Carol Service.

We look forward to seeing you there for what promises to be an inspiring and informative evening.
